On a cold December night, there’s not a much better feeling than being snuggled on a couch with a cup of tea in hand and soft Christmas music playing. The only way to improve on that is being dressed in Christmas pajamas made from softy, cozy waffle knit fabric. 😀

In a poll of our customers, our Organic Large Box Thermal Fabric was the #1 preferred fabric for winter and Christmas pajamas. And no wonder! It’s soft, cozy, stretchy, and extremely comfortable to wear.

But, this waffle knit fabric is not only good for pajamas; there are a wide variety of uses for this organic cotton fabric. We’ll cover more about that below, but first, enjoy this video of Jen giving a brief overview of this popular fabric.

Characteristics of Our Organic Waffle Knit Fabric

Commonly referred to as “Waffle Knit” or “Waffle Box Thermal” fabric, our large box thermal is made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex. It is a knit fabric with a weight of 9-10 oz. and a printable width of 48″.

American-Milled Fabric

Here at Little Cocalico, we put an emphasis on sourcing ethically-produced fabrics that are milled here in the United States. Our Large Box Thermal is a high quality, sustainably produced, American-Milled fabric. This is definitely a fabric we feel good about about carrying and one you’ll feel good about wearing.

Certified Organic

Not only is this fabric American-milled, it is also certified organic cotton. In addition, we print everything using certified organic inks. With this fabric you can rest assured that it is a non-toxic fabric that is both environmentally safe and sustainable.

Beautiful, Waffled Texture

With a waffle pattern on this fabric, it has that soft, comfy feel that is so popular with box thermal fabrics. Our industry leading pigment printing process ensures that our organic ink penetrates and binds extremely well to the fabric, even with the waffled texture.

Good Stretch and Recovery

This fabric has a 5% spandex makeup giving it a 4-way stretch. It has around a 50% stretch both horizontally and vertically with an incredible recovery, making it amazing for loungewear, pajamas, baby clothes, etc…

Great Wash and Rub Durability

Before adding this fabric to our lineup, we ran it through some heavy wash and rub testing to ensure it will hold up well. We are committed to only offering fabrics that we are confident will hold up well to the test of time (and energetic kids). If it says anything, this is the fabric that we use for our children’s Christmas pajamas.

How to Care for Our Waffle Knit Fabric

We recommend washing the large box thermal separately in cool water on a delicate cycle. Mild, phosphate free detergent is preferable as a cleaning agent. For drying you can either hang it to air dry or tumble dry on low heat settings. With proper care, this comfortable, cozy fabric should be a very long-lasting fabric.
